Welcome to the Department of Manitha Uyiriyal
The Department of Manitha Uyiriyal was newly established on 26th July 2024 in the Faculty of Siddha Medicine, University of Jaffna. This department is one of the eight departments within the BSMS degree program at the Faculty of Siddha Medicine at the University of Jaffna.
About The Program
The primary objective of this Department is providing comprehensive education in Udatkootieyal (Anatomy), Udattholilieyal (Physiology) and Uyirrasayanam (Biochemistry) for undergraduate Phase – I (Pre-Clinical) Siddha Medical Students. At present, the Department caters for around 120 undergraduate students from Pre-Clinical BSMS Programme.
This Department offers both theoretical knowledge and practical training in Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry, ensuring the students acquire the essential knowledge and skills required for their professional development in Siddha medicine. The Department is currently equipped with Anatomy and physiology laboratories that facilitate practical learning and skill development among students. To further strengthen academic excellence and research capacity, plans are underway to establish biochemistry laboratory in the near future.
