Introduction Department Of Noi Naadal Chikitchai

The Department of Noi Naadal Chikitsai of the Faculty of Siddha Medicine, University of Jaffna, is responsible for teaching and training students in the principles of disease diagnosis, clinical assessment and management according to Siddha medical principles. The Department contributes to both para-clinical and clinical education, integrating theoretical knowledge with practical and patient-centred clinical training. Students are trained to understand the aetiology, pathogenesis, signs and symptoms, diagnostic methods and therapeutic approaches of diseases described in Siddha Medicine. The Department also promotes clinical training, professional skills, research and community-oriented healthcare through hospital-based
training and medical outreach activities.

About The Program

The Department of Noi Naadal Chikitsai has a significant role in preparing BSMS graduates to become competent Siddha medical practitioners. It is a Clinical department and consists of 3 subjects in New curriculum and 4 subjects in Existing Curriculum. The Department facilitates clinical teaching, case discussions, case presentations and practical exposure through the Kaithady, Siddha Teaching Hospital and other clinical training centers. It also contributes to health awareness programmes, medical camps and community-based activities, enabling students to apply their knowledge in real-world healthcare settings. The Department therefore serves as an important bridge between theoretical Siddha knowledge and evidence-informed clinical practice.
