Mahalir Maruthuvam is the specialized domain concerning women’s health from adolescence through reproductive years and menopause. It integrates traditional diagnosis and therapeutic techniques to support the overall reproductive health. It provides undergraduate students with knowledge and clinical skills in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases affecting women, including menstrual, infertility, and free from GBV. The Mahalir Maruthuvam emphasizes holistic healthcare, women well-being, preventive medicine, and traditional Siddha therapeutic approaches while fostering ethical and compassionate clinical practice.
Mahappettiyal refers to care during the prenatal and postnatal periods. It provides undergraduate students with knowledge and clinical skills in the Prenatal care aims to ensure maternal and Foetal health through the prevention and early detection of complication, maintenance of maternal vitality, and promotion of healthy pregnancies. Postnatal care, on the other hand, focuses on recovery after childbirth, fostering successful breastfeeding, and supporting the physical and mental health of both mother and child during this critical transitional phase.
