Medicinal Flower Exhibition – 2026

A flower exhibition highlighting the medicinal value of seasonal flowers was successfully held on Tuesday, 19 May 2026, from 9.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. at the Central Siddha Hospital and Herbal Garden, Navagiri. The programme was organized by the Department of Gunapadam, Faculty of Siddha Medicine, in collaboration with the Provincial Commissioner of Indigenous Medicine, Northern Province. The exhibition showcased nearly 40 fresh Ilavenil (summer season) flowers prepared and presented by the students of the 40th BSMS batch. The students explained the medicinal uses of each flower and demonstrated simple home remedies based on Siddha medicine principles.

The event commenced with the traditional lighting of the oil lamp, followed by Siddhar Vanakkam and Irai Vanakkam sung by the students of the Faculty of Siddha Medicine. Dr. Sivakulendra, Medical Officer In-Charge of the Central Siddha Hospital, delivered the welcome address. This was followed by an address by Dr. D. Sarvanantha, Provincial Commissioner of Indigenous Medicine, Northern Province. The special guest speech was delivered by Dr. (Mrs.) V. Sathiyaseelan, Dean of the Faculty of Siddha Medicine. Dr. (Mrs.) V. Sathiyaseelan provided overall guidance for the exhibition. Dr. V. M. Prasad, Head of the Department of Gunapadam, actively participated in and coordinated the programme.

The exhibition attracted a large number of visitors, including members of the general public, Siddha medical practitioners, and students, all of whom benefited from the valuable information shared. The event received media coverage from Dan TV and News 1st TV, which recorded and reported the programme.
