A seminar on “From Research to Publication: Understanding Article Types and Navigating the Scientific Publishing Process” was successfully conducted on 18th September 2026 at the Faculty of Siddha Medicine, University of Jaffna. The programme was organized with the objective of enhancing the knowledge and understanding of academic staff, medical officers and BSMS students regarding
scientific writing and the research publication process.
The session was conducted by Dr. (Mrs.) M. S. Shree Devi, M.D. (Siddha), Ph.D., PGDMB, MBA, Research Officer (Siddha), Scientist-II and In-charge of the Siddha Clinical Research Unit, Central Council for Research in Siddha (CCRS), Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, SVIMS Campus, TTD, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.
The workshop aimed to introduce the different types of scientific research articles, enhance participants’ understanding of manuscript preparation and the publication process, provide guidance on appropriate article and journal selection, and encourage effective dissemination of research findings through scientific publications.
The programme commenced with a welcome and introduction of the resource person. Dr. Shree Devi delivered an informative and engaging presentation covering various aspects of scientific publication. She explained the different types of research articles and their purposes, with emphasis on selecting the appropriate format according to the nature and objectives of the research.
The discussion provided useful practical guidance relevant to the academic and research activities of the Faculty. Academic staff, Medical Officers and BSMS students of the Faculty participated in the programme. The hybrid arrangement also enabled participants to join the session virtually.
The workshop enhanced participants’ awareness of different categories of scientific articles, appropriate article selection, essential components of a scientific manuscript, manuscript preparation and submission procedures, journal selection, and important
considerations to be addressed before submitting a manuscript for publication.
The workshop was successfully conducted and provided a valuable academic platform for strengthening research and publication-related knowledge among the participants.
The insights and practical guidance shared by Dr. (Mrs.) M. S. Shree Devi were highly relevant to the research and academic activities of the Faculty of Siddha Medicine.
